31 May 2012, Singapore – Singer-songwriter Noel Gallagher is the latest chart-topping artiste to join the stellar line-up at the 2012 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX. Fans can expect a fantastic set comprising of some of his best new songs from his self-titled album, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, as well as some other Noel Gallagher penned classics from his time in Oasis.

Gallagher will perform at the Padang stage (Zone 4) on 22 September and at the Village Stage at Gate 1 (Zone 1) before the Formula One race on 23 September 2012. Other artistes performing at the Marina Bay Street Circuit includes Jay Chou, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Bananarama, Pretenders and The Proclaimers.
Two years after his departure from English rock band Oasis in October 2009, he released Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, which debuted at number 1 on the United Kingdom's album charts.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, with its psychedelic tinges, eternal themes of love, loss and hope, takes on an array of musical inspiration from the New Orleans ragtime stomp of 'The Death of You and Me', to the Ennio Morricone-inspired, string-laden 'Everybody's On The Run'. The catchy 'AKA…What A Life!', one of Gallagher's favourite tracks on the album, and 'Everybody's On The Run' has been hailed as "his best tunes in 15 years" by the Guardian.
The debut album has topped the charts in the United Kingdom on release, selling over 650,000 copies in UK, and certified double platinum by the British Phonographic Industry making it the second biggest-selling rock album of 2011 in the UK. The album has sold over 1 million worldwide.

Gallagher played a key role in Oasis's success as the principal songwriter, lead guitarist and occasional vocalist. With chart-toppers like 'Wonderwall', as well as Oasis hits sung by Noel Gallagher 'Don't Look Back in Anger' and 'The Importance of Being Idle', many have praised the talented musician's songwriting skills, with renowned record producer George Martin hailing Gallagher to be "the finest songwriter of his generation."

Earlier this year, Gallagher was declared a "Godlike Genius" at the NME Awards. The music publication's editor Krissi Murison said, "Opinionated, intelligent, passionate and always hilarious – Noel walks and talks it better than any other musician out there, and it's just one of the reasons why the British public loves him so dearly."

The Daily Star sums up the live set best, with “The high priest of rock and roll stepped out with nothing to prove…and a whole lot to offer as a solo artist… It was an immaculate set…delivered with affection and expert composure... Those birds are certainly soaring.”
